Messages
The Messages section in the Admin Panel allows you to create and manage kitchen messages — predefined message templates that can be sent from the application to the kitchen printer.
These messages are designed to facilitate fast, structured communication between front-of-house staff and the kitchen.
Purpose
Kitchen messages are especially useful in high-paced service environments where verbal communication is inefficient or prone to error.
They are used from within the POS application and typically serve to notify the kitchen about:
- When to send a course (e.g., starters, main, dessert)
- Service issues (e.g., table request, problem with a dish)
- Kitchen assistance requests (e.g., chef presence needed at a table)
Examples include:
- Send Starters
- Send Main Course
- Send Desserts
- Chef to Table
- Issue with Order
Creating a Kitchen Message
To create a new kitchen message:
- Navigate to the Messages section in the Admin Panel.
- Click the Create Message button.
- Type the desired message text (e.g., “Send Desserts”).
- Click Save to make the message available in the system.
Once saved, the message will appear in the list on this page and will be made available in the application for all accounts.
Tip
Use short and specific message phrases so that kitchen staff can understand and respond quickly.
How It Works in the POS App
After a kitchen message has been added:
- It becomes selectable from any active account (e.g., a table, takeaway, or delivery) in the application.
- The server or user can tap the Messages section in the POS UI.
- The selected message is immediately printed in the kitchen via the configured kitchen printer.
This workflow ensures quick, reliable communication with no need for custom typing on the device.
Summary
The Messages feature provides a simple yet powerful way to enhance communication between service staff and the kitchen team.
By creating structured message templates, restaurants can:
- Improve timing for dish preparation
- Notify the kitchen of requests or issues in real time
- Maintain a smoother and quieter service environment
