Installing the App
The Posbel POS application runs on Android. How you install it depends on the device.
Google Play Devices
On any Android tablet with the Play Store:
- Open the Play Store
- Search for Posbel App
- Install it
Or go straight to play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.posbel.app.
Sunmi Devices
Install from the Sunmi Store on the device, if the app is not already there when you unbox it.
iMin Devices
Install from the iMin app store on the device.
Tip
On Sunmi and iMin hardware, install from the manufacturer's own store rather than sideloading. Updates and device support then follow the route the manufacturer expects, which matters when a terminal or printer driver needs to match a firmware version.
Note
Belgian SCE-certified installations use a separate, certified build. It is provisioned by your installer rather than downloaded from a public store — see Belgium (SCE) vs International.
After Installing
- Sign in with the Organization ID, Username and Password for the device account — see Login
- The account type you sign in with decides what the device becomes: Main, Register, kiosk or kitchen display
Warning
One device in the establishment must be signed in as the Main account. It dispatches printing and coordinates the others, and orders arriving from kiosks, kitchen displays, extra registers and the webshop depend on it. Set that device up first.
If this is a brand-new establishment, work through First-Time Setup, which covers the Admin Panel side — products, groups, printers and users — before the tablets are of much use.
The Rest of the Installation
A full installation usually also involves:
- Printers — kitchen, bar and register printing, on the same network as the tablets
- Cash drawer — connected to a printer, which is what opens it
- Network — a single, stable local network that the tablets, printers and payment devices all share
- Payment terminal — card payments, wired to the register or reached over the network
- Cash machine — automated cash handling in place of a manual drawer
- Kiosk — self-ordering hardware, see Kiosk Setup
- Online ordering — the webshop, see Online Ordering Setup
Warning
The single most consequential decision here is the network. Printers, terminals and cash machines are reached over the local network, so a tablet that drifts onto a guest or mobile network keeps taking orders while silently failing to print or take card payments. Put every device on one network, and remove other networks from the tablets.
Hardware installation and commissioning are carried out by your Posbel installer or partner.
