Promotions
The Promo section defines the promotional offers your establishment runs: a percentage off, a fixed reduction, or a "buy some, get some free" deal.
Each promotion has a validity period and a usage limit, so an offer stops on its own rather than depending on someone remembering to switch it off.
Warning
This page is not available in the Belgian SCE-certified version — it is hidden entirely.
Note
This is about promotion campaigns — coded offers that run for a period. It is not the same as discounting at the register, which works in both versions: the percentage applied to a product or an account on the tablet, and the Promo percentage set on a product under Products. See Discounts.
Note
The page is revealed to a non-administrator by the Promotions ability. See Users → Which Pages a User Can See.
Creating a Promotion
Click Add Promo and fill in the offer.
Type
| Type | What the customer gets |
|---|---|
| Percentage | A percentage off the price |
| Fixed | A fixed amount off |
| M+N same price | Buy a number of items, get a number of further items free |
Discount amount carries the value — the percentage for a percentage promotion, the amount for a fixed one. It must be greater than 0.
For M+N same price, two further fields appear:
- Quantity to buy (M) — how many items the customer must add before the offer applies
- Free quantity (N) — how many further items are then given free
Tip
M+N is the "3 for 2" family of offers: set M to 2 and N to 1. The free items are the cheapest qualifying ones, so the customer is never worse off than the headline suggests.
Promo Code
The Code promo is what the customer enters to claim the offer.
Auto activate applies the promotion automatically in the basket, at checkout included, without any code being entered. Use it for an offer that should simply be live for everyone.
Where It Applies
Apply to a product group limits the promotion to one group. Leave it unset and the promotion applies across all product groups.
Validity and Limits
- Valid from and Valid to — the period the promotion runs. The start must be before the end.
- Max use — how many times the promotion may be claimed in total.
- Used count — how many times it has been claimed so far.
Tip
Used count is the field to watch on a promotion that is not working. An offer that has reached its Max use stops applying silently — it has not expired, it is spent.
On the Receipt
When a promotion has been applied, the VAT and summary tickets show the original price on the product line with the deduction on a line underneath, carrying the same VAT label. The customer sees both what the item normally costs and what they were given.
See Payment → Promotions on Tickets.
Summary

- Scope it to one product group, or leave it across the whole catalog
- Validity dates and Max use end an offer without manual intervention
- The page is not available in the Belgian SCE-certified version; discounting at the register is, in both
