Configuration

A kiosk is configured in two places: on the user the kiosk runs as, and on the establishment.

On the User

Set in the Admin Panel under Users.

App Mode

App Mode must be Kiosk — this is what turns the device into a kiosk.

Warning

The field is not shown on your user form. Ask your Posbel account manager to set it. Everything else on this page is yours to configure.

Kiosk Abilities

Four abilities control what the kiosk offers. Each one removes an option — leaving them unset offers everything.

Ability Effect
Disable Cash Removes cash payment
Disable Card Removes card payment
Disable Eat in Removes the eat-in option
Disable Takeaway Removes the takeaway option

Note

Disable Cash and Disable Card apply in the Belgian SCE-certified version as well, so a certified kiosk can be restricted to card only — an unattended terminal with no cash drawer, for instance.

Warning

Do not disable both payment methods on the same kiosk, and do not disable both order modes. The customer would be able to build an order and then be unable to complete it.

Removing Eat-In or Takeaway from the Kiosk

To stop the kiosk offering Eat-In — the button a French kiosk shows as Sur Place, and a Dutch one as Eet-In — take the ability away on the user the kiosk signs in as.

  1. In the Admin Panel, open Users and edit the kiosk user.
  2. Find the Kiosk group in the abilities list.
  3. Tick Disable Eat in.
  4. Save.

Disable Takeaway works the same way and removes the other button, shown as À Emporter in French and Afhaal in Dutch.

Note

The abilities are restrictive, which is why removing an option means switching something on. There is no "enable eat-in" setting — an option is offered until you disable it.

When the kiosk picks up the change

You do not need to reinstall anything. The kiosk re-reads its user whenever it returns to its start screen, so the option disappears on its own between two customers — though it can take up to about fifteen minutes to do so.

To apply it immediately, restart the app on the kiosk. It reads everything fresh on startup.

Tip

Check it from the kiosk itself rather than from the Admin Panel. The “Where would you like to eat ?” screen should come back showing only the button you kept.

Printer

Assign the printer that prints the customer's order ticket, as you would for a register.

Product Groups

A kiosk user can be restricted to part of the catalog, exactly like a member of staff. See Users → Product Groups.

On the Establishment

Set in the Admin Panel under Settings.

Order Identification

  • Ask for the customer's name — the customer types a name for their order.
  • Ask for the buzzer number — the customer enters their buzzer number, printed on the ticket after a B.

Tip

Enable the one that matches how you hand orders over, not both. Asking twice for the same thing costs you a screen and the customer their patience.

Shop Preselection

Puts a shop selection screen at the start of the order, for venues whose offer is split across counters. The chosen group is preselected when the ordering screen opens.

Tip

Availability follows the Happy Hours schedule on each product group, so a counter drops off the kiosk automatically outside its service hours. Use that rather than hiding groups by hand.

Background Video

URL Background vidéo — the video shown behind the kiosk interface. Upload it in the Media section and paste its URL here.

Ticket Printing

The summary ticket can be printed automatically for kiosk orders paid in cash, without waiting for a member of staff.

Order Status QR Code

When enabled, the ticket carries a QR code the customer can scan to follow their order's progress.

Multi-Establishment Kiosks

A kiosk can serve several establishments from one screen, asking the customer where they want to order before anything else.

  • Master kiosk — enables the establishment picker on kiosks belonging to this establishment.
  • Include this establishment in the picker — whether the establishment operating the kiosk is itself offered as a choice. Leave it off when the kiosk is purely a shared entry point for the others.

Summary

  • App mode, abilities, printer and catalog scope are set per user
  • Order identification, shop preselection, videos, ticket printing and multi-establishment behaviour are set per establishment
  • Abilities are restrictive: unset means offered
