Setup
Everything needed to put a kitchen display screen into service, in order.
1. Have It Enabled
Enable kitchen display is switched on for your establishment by your Posbel account manager. Until it is, assigning the KDS app mode to a user has no effect.
Two related options are set at the same time:
- Auto print when order is completed — prints a ticket when an order reaches its final state
- Enable preparation section — whether the Preparing column is used at all, or orders move straight from pending to ready
2. Create a User for the Screen
In the Admin Panel, create a user for the screen — give it a User Type and a Register pin code as you would any other.
Then ask your Posbel account manager to set that user's App Mode to KDS. The mode is not shown on your user form, so it cannot be changed from your side.
Once it is set, log into the application on the display device with that user and it opens the dashboard automatically.
Tip
Give each screen its own user. The product groups a screen shows and its display mode are both set per user, so separate users are what let a pastry screen and a grill screen show different things.
3. Choose What the Screen Shows
On the same user:
- KDS Product Groups — limits the screen to specific product groups. Leave it empty and the screen receives all orders.
- KDS Call Screen Mode — switches the screen from the item-level view to one card per order.
4. Check the Kitchen Routing
A screen only receives what its product groups send it. Confirm that each product group is assigned to the right printer and that the Print Flag matches what you want on paper.
Note
Kitchen printing and the kitchen display are independent. Running both means an order appears on screen and prints — useful while staff get used to the screens.
Summary
- The feature is enabled for your establishment first, by your account manager
- One user per screen, with App Mode set to KDS
- KDS Product Groups and KDS Call Screen Mode decide what that screen shows and how
- Product group printer routing still governs what reaches the kitchen
